WHAT I DO

my professional summary

For over twelve years I have worked as a designer/developer with experience in UI/UX, game design, programming, illustration, and animation.  I have an interest in all things interactive.  If you can interface with it, I can design for it.  I have designed and developed UI for mobile and web based software as well as automotive and proprietary hardware.

I’m always looking to expand my experience with user interaction into new areas. Both at work and at home, I use the latest tools and ideas to create everything from games to the robots and drones I build. I am constantly looking to do new things and change the way people interact with technology.

UI/UX

User Interface and User Experience has been the most pervasive skill in my career as a designer/developer.  Every great product requires a great user experience, not just from an aesthetics standpoint, but from usability standpoint.  Understanding users and how they interact with your product is paramount.

I have designed user-focused UI/UX for a variety of demographics from children to retirees, tech novices and experts.  I designed, and often programmed, games, websites, vehicles, web apps, mobile apps, kiosks, and hardware devices.

PROGRAMMER

While software development has always been part of what I do, I spent five years entirely as a front end engineer for games both web and mobile.  I developed several Facebook games, mobile games, and apps for Android and iOS.

I mainly used tools like Flash/Flex builder, Objective C and Starling to develop games on the code side and the Adobe Suite for any graphic needs.  My web development focused on HTML5, CSS, and some light Javascript and PHP.

ILLUSTRATOR

I have worked as an illustrator and character artist for multiple games and websites.  I learned character design while working toward a degree in Game Design and Animation in college and cultivated what was an interest into a core skill throughout my career.

Past roles involving illustration and character design include Production Artist, Lead Artist, Technical Art Director,  Character Designer and Animator.

ANIMATOR

I have worked as a character animator for both 2D and 3D mediums.  Working in games, I’ve done animation for many characters and environments for various user interfaces.  I also worked on a few game websites and web apps for kids.

As a hobby, I also do hand-drawn and digital animation with a Wacom Cintiq monitor.

GAME DEVELOPER

In game development, I have seven launch titles as well at three independent games.  These include Facebook games with over 40 million users and mobile games with over a 10 million downloads between them.  I have experience on both the art and programming sides of game development, but recently have found myself somewhere in between.

My roles on these games have included UI/UX Designer, Technical Art Director, Lead Artist, Front End Engineer and Lead Animator.
